Dr. Jodi Brangaccio was awarded a 2-year VA SPiRE grant to investigate operant conditioning of sensory evoked potentials to reduce phantom limb pain

The goal of this project is to develop and validate a novel, noninvasive, non-painful, tactile SEP operant conditioning protocol and assess its impact on phantom limb pain in people with limb amputation. It will study the effects of SEP operant conditioning on phantom limb pain. The project may lead to a safe non-pharmacological alternative for addressing this major clinical problem and perhaps other chronic pain disorders of central origin.
